Experienced Advocacy

Chris is passionate about advocacy and is committed to both continually improving and adapting her advocacy skills in her own practice but also teaching the art of advocacy. She has taught advocacy as a sessional lecturer at Monash University and with the Australian Advocacy Institute and in both the New South Wales and Victorian Bar Readers Course. She has also been privileged to teach advocacy in the Pacific region including to members of the legal profession in Vanuatu and law students in Papua New Guinea. She has previously completed the Australian Bar Association Advanced Trial Advocacy Course in Brisbane.

Clear and precise advice

Chris is skilled at getting across complex material quickly and making forensic decisions that best suit the client's needs. Her written advice is always succinct and to the point.

Interesting and dynamic presentations and training

Chris can speak on a variety of legal topics as well as issues affecting the legal profession at CPDs, on panels and in podcasts. She was most recently interviewed on the podcast ”The psychology of successful women”

Promoting and consulting on equality in the profession

Chris is available to consult on issues of equality and gender parity in the profession. She is passionate about encouraging working mothers to join the profession, particularly the Bar, and advocating for a more inclusive and flexible profession. She has been the President of Victorian Women Lawyers and the Vice President of Australian Women Lawyers as well as the Secretary of the Diversity and Equality Committee of the Victorian Bar. In 2015, inspired by the female law students she taught in Papua New Guinea, she spearheaded a program for the female participants calling it, “Empowering Women in the Law in PNG”. The program was focused on empowering women to remain in the legal profession despite the barriers confronting them both socially and culturally.

Open and inspiring mentorship to law students, solicitors and junior barristers.

Chris has always been active in mentoring others in the profession both formally and informally and is available for advice to aspiring solicitors and barristers.
